Yes. Downloader simply acts as a web browser and a file extraction tool. It is an official tool hosted on the Amazon Appstore. Using the app to sideload third-party software is also a permitted feature built directly into the core Android/Fire OS environment by enabling Developer Options.

A VPN is not required to use the Downloader application itself. However, many users choose to connect to a VPN while browsing the web or sideloading third-party applications to protect their privacy and encrypt their connection from their ISP.

If you downloaded the app from the Amazon Appstore, the web browser engine is disabled by default due to store policies. To fix this, open Downloader, type the short code browser, and install the official browser plugin that downloads.

Absolutely anyone can create a short code. On a computer or phone, go to go.aftvnews.com/, paste the long web address into the box, and click "Shorten". The system will provide you with a permanent 5 or 6 digit number.

Short codes never "expire" organically. If a code fails to load, it almost always means the destination URL that the code points to has been taken offline or deleted by the original host. You will need to find an updated code from the creator.

This Android error means the file is either corrupt, intended for a different hardware architecture (like a 64-bit phone instead of a 32-bit TV stick), or your device is completely out of storage space. Try clearing space using the Files tab or finding an "armeabi-v7a" version of the app.

Some hosting servers hide file extensions. Go to the "Files" tab in Downloader, highlight the .bin file, select "Rename", and change the extension at the end exactly to .apk. It will now install normally.
