Troubleshooting Center
Identify the error you are experiencing below and apply the recommended technical fix.
This happens immediately after clicking the Install prompt. Android is actively rejecting the APK file.
- Delete the corrupted file from the Files tab and re-download.
- Ensure you have at least 500MB of free space in your Device Settings > Storage.
- You downloaded a 64-bit app on a 32-bit device. You must find the 32-bit (armeabi-v7a) version of the specific app.
You enable Downloader in Developer Options, but when you return to the app to install, it asks you to enable permissions again endlessly.
This is a bug in Fire OS. Go to Fire TV Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications. Find Downloader and click Force Stop. Restart your device. The permission state will now sync properly.
You try to visit a short code or a website, and the screen just reads "Webpage not available."
- Enter the short code browser on the Home tab to install the AFTVnews browser engine plugin.
- If the plugin is installed, temporarily disable your VPN to see if the target IP address is blocking your connection.
The progress bar finishes, but you are not presented with the typical Android installation screen.
Navigate to the Files tab on the left menu. Highlight the file you just downloaded. Check its extension. If it ends in .bin or .zip, select it, click Rename, and change it exactly to .apk. Select it again to prompt the install.
The app crashes immediately when you click down, or throws a security exception state.
You denied storage permissions when you first opened the app. Go to Android/Fire TV Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > Downloader > Permissions. Ensure Storage is set to "Allow".
